The Brandon Cole Scholarship
Purpose
The purpose of the Brandon Cole Foundation Scholarship and Merit Award Program is to recognize young persons noted for taking an active stand against bullying by being a role model for his or her peers. The program is being expanded this year to include all schools within the province of Alberta.
Scholarship and Merit Award Amounts
- 1 - $1000 Scholarship for graduating senior from a CESD high school
- 2 - $500 Awards of Merit to CESD high school students not graduating in this year
- 2 - $250 Awards of Merit to CESD middle school students
- 2 - $250 Awards of Merit to CESD elementary school students
- 1 - $500 Award for Highest Overall Score
Conditions of Eligibility/Criteria
The applicant must meet the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Brandon Cole Foundation Scholarship:
- The applicant must be nominated by a third party
- The application must be accompanied by a minimum of ONE of the following: a word essay; a video; a power-point presentation; original songs, poems and/or lyrics on the topic of bullying and/or suicide prevention
- Applicant must be graduating this year from a high school in the CESD to be eligible for the $1000 Brandon Cole Memorial Scholarship
- Applicant must be a full time, non-graduating student in any grade at a high school in the CESD to be eligible for a $500 Award of Merit
- Applicant must be a full time student at a middle school in the CESD to be eligible for a middle school $250 Award of Merit
- Applicant must be a full time student at an elementary school in the CESD to be eligible for an elementary school $250 Award of Merit
- Highest Overall Score Award of $500 will include winning applicants from all categories
- Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant
- Applicant must reside in the Province of Alberta.
- Scholarships will be awarded at the Annual Brandon Cole Music Festival
- Music Festival date is Friday July 25th and Saturday July 26th, 2009
